I officially began my studies in the EdD program in Educational Theatre at NYU in the Fall of 2019. I had just finished ten years of full-time teaching theatre at a public school in New York City and was looking for the next steps to further my career.  At the time of writing this portfolio, in the Fall of 2021, I have completed or I am about to complete 36 out of 42 coursework credits. In my culminating study, I plan to utilize in-depth interviews from approximately 20-30 police officers in NYC.  The interviews will be transcribed, coded, and analyzed though a Critical Race Theory lens and ultimately turned into a full-length live ethnodrama. My hope is to create an engaging new work that can bridge together my three passions-- socially conscious theatre, verbatim performance, and young people.

What follows here is a detailed account of project descriptions that seek to illustrate my proficiency in the New York State Theatre Standards of Creating, Performing, Responding, and Connecting. I hope that through my writing, my artistic and academic work, and my photographic artifacts, I will have conveyed my passion, dedication, and understanding for the arts. I respectfully present this candidacy portfolio as proof of my knowledge as a qualified candidate for the EdD Program in Educational Theatre and my ability to move forward with my culminating project.
